Carol Delahunty
In this picture of a vase of tulips I have tried to capture the characteristic flowing organic lines of the art nouveau period. I also used beautiful bullseye glass for the petals as an homage to the tiffany style.

Klimt was an influential figure of Viennese Art Nouveau. His works were a step toward abstraction as he developed his strong geometric motifs. My inspiration for these two pieces came from the style characterised by his work, the highly ornamental and organic shapes and patterns. I have used a combination of materials: ceramic, both glazed and unglazed, smalti, millefiori, glass, metalics and shells, as he would have used mixed media to suggest texture and movement.
