Artist Statement - Goldfinch

My inspiration comes from my environment very often. And as I have the chance to live in the countryside, birds that visit me every day in my garden are numerous. One of them is particularly beautiful and colorful, the Goldfinch. It seemed only natural to give him life with my tiles ! I chose smalts for the depth of their colors, singing millefiori to materialize, and the decor is made of marble and cement colored pigments.

Artist Statement - Misty Spring Morning

Delicate pink blossom and the sweet sound of birdsong are synonymous with spring, my favourite time of year. With this piece I hoped to capture the colours and feel of an early misty spring morning, giving the mosaic an almost Japanese feel.

Artist Statement - Four Seasons

“The first thing that came to mind when I heard “Birdsong and Blossom” was the beautifully decorated crockery that is available nowadays. I wanted different colours to denote the 4 seasons and set about trawling around charity shops and car boots! There are some embellishments dotted in the mirrors – fimo flowers, ceramic earrings, glass nuggets but mostly broken crockery. I had a smashing time making them!

Artist Statement - Yellow Bird in the tree

Inspired by Birdsong & Blossom.

The yellow bird sings about the coming of spring, sat in the pink blossom of the tree. Beneath him the landscape is exploding with little jewels of life beckoning a renewal for us all.
