Artist Statement
What first attracted me to the work of Chagall was the storytelling in his pictures, his imagination and breathtaking use of colour.
“My paintings are my memories.” said Chagall. This statement together with:”In the arts as in life, everything is possible provided it is based on love.”
Prompted my own composition.
As I struggled with the work, trying to find solutions i remembered his independence and determination to paint as life as he saw it and follow his own path.
One moment of pure joy connects me to the legacy of Chagall ,when on a summer’s day I walked into a small church in Tudeley. Blue and yellow light spilled over all the surfaces and wrapped me in it like a swaddling blanket.
