Balloon,
Floating gently into the heavens above, into a beautiful clear blue summer sky. Watching the landscape below gradually shrinking from sight, troubles & worries sinking away into the distance.... Drifting free as a bird on the thermals, at peace in the silence......
Planet Monochrome.
This mixed media mosaic was inspired by the Saturday morning picture shows, I used to go to when I was a child, where they would show such sci-fi gems as, Flash Gordon - fighting the Evil Emperor Ming. A classic good against evil show from the fifties, my love of Sci-fi was born with these series, (in which I felt no boundaries to imagination & could let my thoughts roam free across the universe!!) & continues today.

I wanted to decorate an electric guitar as a homage the the band Muse.
This piece is named after their song 'Starlight' from their most recent album, 'Black Holes and Revelations'.
Materials: stained glass mosaic on a vintage electric guitar.
'Eddies in the Space-time Continuum'.
"Ah," nodded Arthur, "Is he. Is he." He pushed his hands into the pockets of his dressing gown and looked knowledgeably into the distance.

“A Cute Wee Puffin Gliding in on the Summer Breeze” is made from clipped fragments of vitreous glass mosaic tiles with the addition of beach combed seashells, sea glass & sea pottery which myself, family & friends collect from the beautiful beaches of Fife in Scotland; purchased seashells, starfish, glass nuggets & beads are also applied.
Watching the splendour of Scottish wildlife always deeply inspires me, especially coastal wildlife such as sea otters, seals & sea birds; though I never have had the pleasure to see a puffin colony on the islands, I have seen many nature programmes with the adorable little birds flying back to their chicks after a fishing trip.
When I go beach combing I always see flocks of striking oystercatcher’s, cormorants, eider ducks, terns, curlews & little plover’s & I am always in awe of them, they have the land to rest, the sea & beach to feed & the sky to travel & explore; the heavens are there freedom from constraints.
“Spirited Away by the Handsome & Captivating Eros . . . . Heavenly” is made from clipped fragments of vitreous glass tiles with the addition of gold coloured metal heart charms & beads.
The classical story of Eros & Psyche is a story of love most wonderful & tender that any heart could not fail to be touched & inspired by; no matter how many times I read the legend of the princess with remarkable beauty & the most charming man in the world, a warm glow always lightens within me.
Psyche is gently lifted into the arms of Zephyrus who takes her to a magnificent palace high on the cliff tops, where she is truly happy with her lover & protector; she is spirited away by love most dearest & eternal love in the heavens with a blessing on Olympus.
